This is where my grandparents lived and ministered in the rural areas since the year 1910. A paradise-ish environment with pearly white beaches, an oasis.

The largest island in the Maluku archipelago Halmahera is home to the North Maluku capital of Sofifi. Located on the west coast the once small village was chosen to replace Ternate as the capital in 2010.

My grandparents were a pastor couple, they worked with the Dutch Reformed Missionary Union during those days. They did missionary work in the rural area of Indonesia and my mother was also trained for missionary work. Sadly, because of wars, they had to end the missionary work.

After the war my mother married my father, he was a soldier in the Dutch Indian Army. Later my parents arrived in the Netherlands, I was being raised with the Moluccan Protestant beliefs. After my catechism, I came in contact with the International Bible Union.

This period took place in the early 1980s, then we joined a local Full Evangelical Church. In the early 1990s my wife and me were led to World Evangelization. During my first missionary trip in 1993 to Romania, I was confirmed there for the first time to preach the Gospel worldwide.
